This new business project has the support of Bexen Medical, MONDRAGON Health and the MONDRAGON Corporation, who were present at the inauguration ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company, founded in September 2022, uses a technology that is unique in the world: an automated platform that uses insects in their chrysalis state as natural bioreactors with high efficiency and low cost. This method is more natural, scalable and accessible compared to the traditional method of fermentation with bacteria, where stainless steel bioreactors are used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a relevant milestone not only on a biotechnological level, but also on a social scale, since Cocoon&#8217;s recombinant proteins are an efficient and economically viable alternative to supply reagents to the emerging industry of mRNA therapies and vaccines, gene sequencing and cultured meat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBeing part of a pioneering company in advanced therapies such as Coocon helps us to understand the needs, challenges and difficulties faced by a company in this sector and to try to respond to them from our cooperative, both in terms of product and service\u201d, emphasized Manuel S\u00e1nchez-Lagarejo, CEO of Bexen Medical. Pello Rodriguez Zabaleta, President of MONDRAGON Corporation, who was also present at the opening ceremony, highlighted that \u201cthis accompaniment is a way of learning in this new bioscience sector so that we can then go on to do new things\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Joshua Robinson, CEO of Cocoon Biosciene, said he was \u201cproud to work with MONDRAGON and Bexen Medical. They have helped us to build the facilities and maintain the high level of quality we need for our customers\u201d. He also wanted to highlight the support of both organizations as investors in the company, \u201cbelieving in us when we were just a presentation on a computer and helping us to realize this facility today\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">A natural, efficient and affordable alternative<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the health level, Cocoon Bioscience&#8217;s goal is to democratize access to these types of therapies, reducing raw material costs by up to 90%, which will allow access to developing countries facing infectious diseases that undermine the population. Cultured meat, for its part, is a sustainable alternative for the future of the world&#8217;s food supply. It is estimated that by 2075 there will be 9 billion people on the planet, which will make traditional food production unsustainable. In addition, current livestock production contributes significantly to global warming due to methane generated by animals.
