Arrasate will be a cardio-protected town with the installation of 17 Bexen Cardio defibrillators. The defibrillators, available 24 hours a day, will be placed in public spaces and there will be at least one in every neighbourhood of Arrasate. In addition, a rescue network will be set up and volunteers from Arrasate will receive training during the month of June.

Work began today on the installation of the 17 sites, which is expected to be completed by the end of the month. The aim of this project is to “take steps forward in the healthcare ecosystem”. As the mayoress of Arrasate, Maider Morras Azpiazu, explains, “we want Arrasate to be a healthy town, and this service can save many lives. In order for a person who has suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest to come out alive, it is essential that the victim is attended to quickly. The data indicate that the victim must be attended to within six minutes. In the ACBC, however, according to data from 2018, an ambulance takes an average of eleven minutes to reach the victim,” he explained.

Some defibrillators will be accompanied by an orange totem, such as the one in Musakola, and others will be on the walls of various buildings. All will be properly signposted.
