MONDRAGON Health, the strategic alliance of MONDRAGON cooperatives for the health sector, has concluded a successful participation in MEDICA 2025, the world’s largest medical technology trade fair, held from November 17 to 20 in Düsseldorf.
Bexen Cardio, Bexen Medical, Erreka Medical, Leartiker, and MC3 formed the alliance’s stand, which was part of the Spain Pavilion organized by the Spanish Federation of Healthcare Technology Companies (FENIN). The five cooperatives, as well as Embega Healthcare (which was located at a different stand but belongs to the MONDRAGON group), demonstrated the capacity of the cooperative ecosystem to offer integrated solutions, ranging from research in biomaterials to large-scale manufacturing and cardio-protection technology.
During the four days of the fair, the MONDRAGON Health stand became a neuralgic point for professionals, industrial partners, and investors from all over the world. Professionals from the Basque cooperatives received visits from countries including Ukraine, USA, Lithuania, France, Portugal, Brazil, Germany, India, Denmark, Taiwan, Korea, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, South Africa, Turkey, Latvia, Romania, Greece, Saudi Arabia, and Iran, among others.
The primary focus was concentrated on the complementary offerings of the cooperatives, demonstrating their industrial capacity. Bexen Medical, on one hand, generated great interest with its medical device production proposal, guaranteeing safety and quality through its three in-house production plants and more than 1,000 m² of ISO Class 7 cleanrooms. This infrastructure is key to the manufacturing of its extensive portfolio, which includes devices for parenteral and enteral nutrition, infusion/transfusion (IV sets), gynecology, urology, and ophthalmology.

This industrial capability was joined by Erreka Medical, which positions itself as a trusted partner for the contract manufacturing of polymeric components with expertise in microfluidics. Their expertise was evident in the innovative project ‘LAB ON A COFFEE’, developed together with MC3 and Embega Healthcare. The project, which generated significant interest, demonstrated the group’s synergy: Erreka Medical provided microfluidic chip design, mold manufacturing, and injection molding, while Embega Healthcare was responsible for the design and development of printed sensors (temperature, heating, and electrochemical), and MC3 worked on application design and final assembly.
Furthermore, Bexen Cardio reaffirmed its position as a leader in cardio-protection. With more than 60,000 units installed in over 100 countries since 1980, the cooperative generated strong interest by presenting its complete range, spanning from public access defibrillators to monitor-defibrillators for emergencies, advanced hospital devices, and training solutions.
Finally, Leartiker showcased its expertise in R&D and advanced materials for developing advanced in vitro models, polymeric microfluidics, and biomaterials.
Thus, MONDRAGON Health consolidated its intercooperation model at MEDICA 2025 as the most complete and reliable response for the international healthcare industry, reaffirming the alliance’s positioning as a key player in transferring health technology to the global market.
