MONDRAGON Health participates in the HealthTech Innovation event
- Industry leaders have gathered at the conference organized by Basque Health Cluster and BIOEF to discuss the future of health in the Basque Country.
On October 29th, BAT B Accelerator Tower became the epicenter of health innovation in the Basque Country. As part of the “HealthTech Innovation” event, MONDRAGON Health participated in a round table that highlighted the strength and potential of the Basque healthcare ecosystem at an international level.
Organized by Basque Health Cluster and BIOEF and entitled “The Basque Health Ecosystem: A value proposition in the international context”, the round table brought together a panel of top-level experts, including representatives from the public administration, leading companies in the sector, research centers and universities.
The speakers, including Iñaki Gutiérrez-Ibarluzea, director of Health Research and Innovation of the Basque Government; Maria Eugenia Puertas Azkue of Bexen Medical, representing MONDRAGON Health; Rikardo Bueno Zabalo general manager of BRTA – Basque Research & Technology Alliance; Koldo Callado doctor in medicine and surgery and full professor of the Department of Pharmacology of the UPV/EHU; and Arantza Muriana from the Basque Health Cluster, shared their visions and experiences on how the Basque Country is positioning itself as a reference in the field of health.
Collaboration and synergies to transform the sector
During the session, moderated by Alberto José Fernández González, Director of Technology and Innovation of the Basque Government, the importance of collaboration between the different agents in the ecosystem to drive innovation and improve people’s quality of life was highlighted. They highlighted the existing synergies between institutions, companies and the healthcare system, as well as the challenges and opportunities on the horizon.
In parallel, another round table entitled “Digital Therapies: Innovation and Wellness through Value-Based Medicine and Patient Engagement” was held. In this session, experts explored how digital therapies are transforming healthcare. Speakers shared their knowledge and experiences on how these innovations are putting the patient at the center of care, improving health outcomes and optimizing resources.
A promising future
The event made it clear that the Basque healthcare ecosystem is undergoing a moment of great transformation. The commitment to research, innovation and internationalization is bearing fruit, positioning the Basque Country as a pole of attraction for companies and talent worldwide.
